The Club-head Center of Gravity (CG) locator can be used to locate the center of gravity position of woods, irons and putters on the vertical plane (face) and horizontal plane (sole) of the clubhead, both of which are very strong predicators of a clubhead's forgiveness and the type of ball flight tenden- cies it can produce.
This in turn can help a clubmaker assess the playability of different clubhead based on these two critera instead of just relying solely on the clubhead loft,face angle, weight etc.
Unlike other CG locators, the Golfmechanix design features a spring loaded firing pin which leaves a small pin mark on the club-face. Using a piece of brown tape on the clubhead prevents markings to be made the clubface permantly!
This method is far more accurate and much easier to implement than trying to push a pen upside down through a pin hole!
The best way to analyze perimeter weighting and off-center hits forgiveness of both woods and irons. Pinpoints the center of gravity of any clubhead within a millimeter.
